“Echo for me is about the moment when you realise someone has left your life for good. Somebody who was once so very close to me, left my life recently and there was so much left unsaid on their part and looking back I have come to accept that sometimes people leave in silence and that’s ok. It’s a song about a breakdown in communication and trust, but ultimately, I hope that sonically, it feels uplifting because I know that the space that has been left is open to new people and experiences for me. That one door that has now closed will lead to something better in the future even if I don’t quite feel it yet. Though their presence still lingers for me, it gets quieter as time goes on and that is comforting.”
